Project Overview

At The Afghanistan Development National Organization (ADNO), in collaboration with the German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ), spearheaded a transformative Poultry Production Project within the Women’s Promotion Project in Kandahar. This initiative was strategically designed to empower women by providing them with the skills and resources necessary for successful poultry farming.

Recognizing the potential of poultry farming to enhance economic stability and nutritional standards, the project focused on training women in various aspects of poultry management. The core objective of the project was to train women in poultry farming, covering essential areas such as breeding, feeding, health management, and business aspects of poultry production.

Comprehensive training sessions enabled participants to gain practical and theoretical knowledge, enhancing their competence in managing small-scale poultry farms. By equipping women with the skills to start and maintain their own poultry farms, the project aimed to create sustainable income opportunities. This empowerment contributed to the economic upliftment of families and communities in Kandahar, promoting financial independence and resilience.

Poultry farming provided a reliable source of protein and essential nutrients, improving the nutritional standards of the participating families. This aspect was particularly significant in a region where malnutrition posed a critical challenge. The project fostered a sense of community and collaboration among the participants.

Regular workshops and group activities facilitated knowledge sharing and collective problem-solving, building a supportive network for women engaged in poultry farming. The Poultry Production Project yielded substantial positive outcomes. Women who participated in the training reported increased household income, better nutrition, and improved confidence in managing their own businesses. The project not only enhanced the participants’ livelihoods but also contributed to the broader goal of women’s empowerment in Kandahar.

This initiative, funded by GTZ and implemented by ADNO, stands as a beacon of successful community development and empowerment. It underscores the vital role of targeted training and resource allocation in transforming lives and fostering sustainable development. ADNO remains committed to its mission of promoting sustainable development through innovative and impactful projects.

The success of the Poultry Production Project exemplifies our dedication to empowering individuals and communities, particularly women, through capacity-building initiatives. As we continue to build on this foundation, we strive to create lasting positive change across various sectors.
